Oreo Ball Pumpkins

About a month ago (I think) I finally gave Bakerella's cupcake pops a try. Sadly, I thought they tasted disgusting and so did my entire family. But they were all so incredibly cute that I decided I had to find another way to do the same type of idea.

One of our favorite homemade candies that we make at Christmas time is called Oreo Balls. Here is the recipe:

OREO BALLS
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
4 cups crushed Oreo® cookies
2 cups chocolate baking chips
1 tbsp. shortening

Directions:
On high speed of an electric mixer, beat cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add cookies and beat until well combined. Refrigerate 2 hours until chilled enough to roll. Roll dough into 1" ball. Over double boiler, melt chips and shortening until smooth. Dip balls into mixture and thoroughly coat. Place on wax paper to harden. Store in refrigerator.

So I decided to make the oreo ball as the 'cupcake' part and then do the dipping and decorating. For these pumpkins I just used the orange candy melts and an edible black marker- I had to order those but I am pretty sure they will come in handy.
These turned out so incredibly cute AND they taste really, really, really good!

LOVE them!! You could totally to Christmas Ornaments with this idea too. Again, we live way too far away from each other. I'd love to come create with you. I am going to snag this idea from you.

So, I made these today and I don't know how you do it so that they come out so smooth. I think only one of mine turned out that way, the rest were a little lumpy. Oh well, they are still super cute and yummy. I used black gel for the faces.
