TWD: Thanksgiving Twofer

I am several days late on this one because I was having a quandary. My husbands mom used to make a Pumpkin Pecan Pie every single Thanksgiving. She is now gone and I felt almost like I was messing with a memory and tradition to even attempt to make the TWD this week.
However, I did both. I haven't tasted either so I will have to get back to you on that one, but here are the pictures and the recipe for Suzanne's Pumpkin Pecan pie that won awards and is super simple.

Suzanne's Pumpkin Pecan Pie

3 eggs, slightly beated

1 C Pumpkin

1 C sugar

½ C dark Karo syrup

1 tsp vanilla

½ tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp salt

½ c. pecan halves

Mix together the eggs, pumpkin, sugar, Karo, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour into a deep dish pie shell. Top with pecan halves. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.

And here is the TWD Twofer:

Update: So I tasted slivers of both with a little cool whip on top and I have to say that Suzanne's won out. And honestly, I have never been all about her pie, but I definitely liked it better than the two. Sorry Dorie!

Thank you so much Ninny, for participating with me this week... even though you prefered Suzanne's pie, I don't care, you participated, your pie looks great and that's what counts plus, my name is not Dorie! LOL LOL
A very happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Is that a pentagon or hexagon pie pan? Because that's seriously awesome. And at least you made one pie you really liked, right?

Good for you for making them both! Hers does look like you did a bang up job on it. Glad you liked it best (even though I am a Dorie fan, too!)

Okay those look absolutely delicious. I'm going to have to try them. I found you on the LDS mom blogs. And I have to know about the TWD thing. I love cooking and want to try new things. Please I beg you to let me in on the secret!!
